here are some pointless blogthings:

You Are 50% Left Brained, 50% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

You are 60% Sagittarius

What Your Soul Really Looks Like

You are quite expressive and thoughtful. You see the world in a way that others are blind to.

You are a very grounded, responsible, and realistic person. People may not want to hear the truth from you, but they're going to get it.

You believe that people see you for how you are, not how you look. But deep down, you know that's not exactly true.

Your near future is still unknown, and a little scary. You'll get through wild times - and you'll textually enjoy it.

Tuesday was not a great day for America... Well, at least for me it wasn't. Tuesday I lost the job I thought was going so well. Put it nicely as I want, I was fired. Why? I'm still trying to work that out. I have a theory though: I was set up. Oh yes! Conspiracy is ever alive and well!
Feel free to ignore the rest of the story... )

So, I guess it's time I go back to nursery sitting and writing for any newspaper that ISN'T the one mentioned. *sighs*

Contrary to what this post might suggest, I am feeling a lot better now. Anger fades, and often rather quickly. Bitterness; however, can last a lifetime. This is just the aftermath post of a bad week of... badness.

Go to this page and look through random quotes until you find five that you think reflect who you are or what you believe. Repost in your journal and tag five friends.

"The man least dependent upon the morrow goes to meet the morrow most cheerfully." -Epicurus

"One of the indictments of civilizations is that happiness and intelligence are so rarely found in the same person." -William Feather

"Patterning your life around other's opinions is nothing more than slavery." -Lawana Blackwell

"To have doubted one's own first principles is the mark of a civilized man." -Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

"Behind every great fortune there is a crime." -Honore de Balzac

. . . One more: "I like work - it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours." -Jerome K. Jerome

I tag everyone who wants to do this.

2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest. (Damn! *stops in tracks*)
6. Tag three people.

I'm sitting in front of a bookshelf and many of the books are equally close... *closes eyes and points*

"For no reason that I can possibly attach a rational explanation to, I put 50p into a game called Killer Kickboxer or Kick Your Fucking Brains Out or something like that, and spent about a minute punching a red button and waggling a joystick while my character, a muscular blond fellow, kicked uselessly at drapes and threw magic discs into thin air while a series of equally muscular but unscrupulous Orientals assaulted him with kidney chops and flung him repeatedly to the carpet. I had a strange hour in which I wandered in a kind of trance, feeding money into machines and playing games I couldn't follow. I drove racing cars into bales of hay and obliterated friendly troops with lasers and unwittingly helped zombie mutants do unspeakable things to a child."
-from Notes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson

*sigh* There is one genre of writing I absolutely cannot do: sports. So what am I stuck writing? Sports! *shakes fist at Tim-Curry-like boss* He may as well hand me a book written in Mandarin Chinese and tell me to memorize it! *grumbles* Not that there's anything wrong with sport; it's just not my cup of tea.
Ah well, I'll try almost anything once. This should be "interesting", if nothing else. Maybe I can talk my way out of it? Surely there are other writers who are into sports?

*stares at bare window* Why have I still not put up the curtains? *shakes fist at self* Procrastination is certainly no stranger of mine, but this is ridiculous! It probably wouldn't be a big deal were the windows not so HUGE. Why a tiny apartment needs such large windows, I don't know.

My toe is better though. With any luck I won't have to see the podiatrist after all!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Hello all! *waves*
The new job is going well. 'Tis a wee bit confusing, as I'm not yet familiar with the software, but it's enjoyable and most everyone is pleasant. I'm glad; it's about time something went right! Funny though, my two "bosses" are married to each other. And one of them (Richard) looks exactly like Tim Curry! It's weird...

But naturally, I don't have as much free time now, so I've decided Greek class must be a martyr. I'm not completely giving it up, but it now rests on the very back of the backiest back burner.

In other ramblings, I stubbed my toe a few weeks ago and now I think it's infected or possibly ingrown. It's rather purplish and may be puss-filled... (I know that's much too much information, sorry.) I'll need a podiatrist if it doesn't get better.

So now I'm off to watch my new DVD, "Imagine Me and You". Cheers!

I can't believe how revoltingly hot it’s been lately! The Northern Hemisphere is a relentless inferno of sweltering heat!

My recently distorted sleep schedule I blame on said weather. I’ve always suffered from insomnia been a night owl, but lately it’s been out of control. I can’t sleep until four in the morning! I so long for a good night’s rest - I so long for snow, or at the very least rain! *mopes* Ah well, I can dream... though not literally.

Most of my day was spent thinking, meditating, and ultimately becoming sombre as hell. But a little weightiness never hurt anyone. I also watched some sixth season Buffy in an attempt to revive my writing muse. I reconnected with my 'inner fan', but alas, still no fic inspiration. All in good time I suppose.

Still crossing my fingers on the new job. I meet with Tia on Tuesday. *crosses all other crossable things*

You Are A Hornbeam Tree

You are a reserved person, looking in from the outside.
Naturally attractive, you take good care of your looks.
You are not egoistic, and you make life as comfortable as possible.
You look for kindness in others - though you are seldom happy with yourself.
A bit mistrusting and unsure, you dream of being swept away by someone unusual.

You Are 5: The Investigator

You're independent - and a logical analytical thinker.

You love learning and ideas... and know things no one else does.

Bored by small talk, you refuse to participate in boring conversations.

You are open minded. A visionary. You understand the world and may change it.

One of the newspapers I write for is looking for someone to construct ads. Since I've dabbled in the graphic arts a bit, I applied for the job, insisting I was "willing to learn". It's part time, 5pm to 9pm (absolutely perfect for my schedule), and the pay is good. I could really use the money at this point, so here's to hoping!

As it turns out Drusilla the cat doesn't belong to the neighbour I thought she did. And she seems to have adopted me :-). Bubbins is adjusting...

A few weeks ago I bought new curtains: solid black to match my Celtic dragon bedspread. With any luck, I’ll [finally] get them up this week. Where does the time go?

My writing muse seems to have left me. Seeing as I owe fics to at least a couple of people, this is very bad. I do hope she returns to me soon!

I woke up this morning tired and achy, bearing a large bruise on my arm. I cannot account for this - no smut involved.

June has been a dire month for my family. My mom has had to switch medicines, much to the dismay of those living with her, and my dad fell, bollixing up his knee. Somehow it became infected and a two-night stay at the hospital was necessary. He is doing much better now, but is still in some pain.
To boot, the washing machine died, putting them out an additional $475. And when finances are tight, that’s a great deal of money.

On the positive side, July so far has been much more serene. With any luck it will continue to be so.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
